"ANCIENT GREEK VESSELS"

In collaboration with the Museum of Cycladic Art we presented the art of pottery, the process of earthenware pot making.

The images depicted on the ancient earthenware vessels provide us with information on the educational system, the theatre, religion and celebrations, man's every day life in general. They constitute an essential source of information about the private and public life of the ancient Greeks. Have you ever thought that the representations on ancient earthenware pots have an equivalent function to the pictures in books and magazines nowadays? Just as nowadays we learn about the way that people live, dress, work and enjoy themselves through magazines and books, in a similar way the ancient earthenware pots provide us with information on the every day life of the Ancient Greeks.

In this way, a series of models of earthenware pots, transparencies, printed material, games and books helped us to reconstruct everyday life in Ancient Greece. We also acquired information about the craft of pottery and the evolution of basic styles from the 10th to the 5th c. BC. , the use of pots and their basic patterns, all by means of the special equipment of the Museum of Cycladic Art.
